Free Speech Area Rules

For individuals or groups wishing to engage in free speech activities, BerryFest provides a designated Free Speech Area outside the event near the entrances. To ensure a safe and respectful environment for all, the following rules must be observed:

  1. Designated Area: All protests or demonstrations must remain within the designated Free Speech Area. Activity outside this area will not be permitted.
  2. Amplified Sound: The use of amplified sound, including megaphones, speakers, or similar devices, is prohibited to maintain a pleasant atmosphere for all attendees.
  3. Respect for Guests: Protesters may not engage in behavior that annoys, aggravates, harasses, or intimidates event guests, vendors, or staff.
  4. Property Designation: This event takes place on a state facility licensed to a private company, making it private property. The Free Speech Area is a privilege granted by BerryFest and is not a public forum like a county fairground.
  5. Revocation of Privileges: BerryFest reserves the right to revoke access to the Free Speech Area if these rules are violated or if activities pose a safety risk.
  6. Application Requirement: Protesters must fill out a vendor application to reserve space in the Free Speech Area. Space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
  7. Compliance with Laws: Protesters must comply with all local, state, and federal laws.

Failure to adhere to these rules may result in removal from the premises and other legal action if necessary. BerryFest prioritizes the safety and enjoyment of all participants while respecting free speech rights.

Festival Information

BerryFest Strawberry Festival

BerryFest returns as one of Northern California’s favorite Mother’s Day weekend traditions—bigger, livelier, and more thoughtfully designed for families than ever before. What began as a strawberry celebration has grown into a full-scale community festival, blending classic fair fun, local flavor, and entertainment made for moms, kids, and everyone in between.

Guests can enjoy the return of longtime favorites, including the Classic Car Show, Arts & Crafts shopping, a vibrant Farmers Market, and more than 40 food vendors serving fair favorites and strawberry-inspired treats. The Kids Carnival brings rides and games, while live bands, entertainers, puppeteers, comedians, and the Little Miss Strawberry Pageant fill multiple stages throughout the grounds. Families can also enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, cooking demonstrations, selfie spots, slot car racing, and a relaxing Mom’s Retreat designed just for moms.

New this year, BerryFest expands with exciting additions like the high-energy Berry Jam Monster Truck Show, Amazing Animal World inside the Expo Building, expanded indoor shopping in Waite Hall, a new Marionette Stage, added comedy shows, and the colorful Raspberry Parade popping up throughout the festival. The beloved Strawberry Pancake Breakfast and Mom of the Year Award also return, making BerryFest the perfect way to celebrate Mom.

Held annually on Mother’s Day weekend, BerryFest offers something for every family—big enough to excite, yet welcoming enough to feel like home. 🍓
